Sin and Guilt
Many
people avoid any kind of relationship with God because of sin and past
guilt.
Some people are in love with certain sins and are fearful they may be
forced to give them up if they come to know God. The truth of the matter
is, that once you know God on a personal level, and you get a glimpse of
how much He loves you, your desire for sin and evil things of old will
leave on their own. It might not happen over night, but it will
definitely happen, once you truly surrender your life to Christ and
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The workings of the Holy Spirit
bring about repentance, (the turning from sin.)
There are many people who don’t necessarily love a particular sin, but
still avoid a relationship with God because of their past sins. In their
mind they are essentially handcuffed to their past sins because they
feel they are unworthy of God’s love. They feel that they have done so
many terrible things in the past, that there is no way God or anyone
else could really love them. However, that is a lie straight from hell.
God is crazy about you. So crazy about you, that He came to earth as a
man of flesh, so that He could die as a sacrifice for your sins.
Once you accept the “Free Gift” of God and make Jesus Christ the Lord of
your life, all your past, confessed sins will be covered by His blood.
God will not see any of your past sins which have been covered by the
blood of Jesus.
There is another group of people who avoid God because of the guilt of
sin. Maybe they did something terrible to another person, and their
guilt is unbearable. Maybe as a young girl, they had an abortion, and
now they are condemning themselves for that past terrible mistake. I got
news for you, God has everything under control. All the babies
that have ever been aborted on earth, will live a life as kings and
queens in heaven. Abortion, which is just another tool of Satan, doesn’t
destroy the infant’s spirit, but rather it is meant to destroy the
spirits of the Mother who had it done and the doctor who performed it.
If the Mother and/or the doctor, accept God’s Free Gift and confess
their sin of abortion, it will be gone, covered by the blood of Christ.
Maybe the person troubled by guilt is a man who raped or molested a
young child, and now feels terrible about his past actions. If that
sounds like you, I got good news for you, if you accept Jesus Christ as
your Lord and confess those sins to Him, He is faithful to cover them
with His blood, so that they are no longer visible to God. Jesus will
make you white as snow. But you may say, I can’t help but think about
the person I victimized, how they must feel right now. Well I got more
good news for you, if you are a Born Again believer in Christ and you
pray to Jesus to blot out the memory of your sin from the mind of your
victim, He is faithful to do that. This is important if you are plagued
by guilt, so let me say it again, “The victim of your sin will have
no memory of it” . Trust me if Jesus can bring a dead man back to
life after three days of being dead, He can certainly erase a terrible
thing from someone’s memory. When the Son sets you free, you are totally
free.
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to
sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs
to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
John 8:34-36
Born Again believers in Christ are all set free by the Son. They are new
creatures whose sole purpose is to bring the fruits of the Spirit to the
lost world. The fruits of the Spirit are as follows: Love, Joy, Peace,
Long Suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance.
Many Born Again Christians remain in their prison cell of sin, because
they haven’t realized that their cell door has been unlocked. The cure
for that problem is reading the Word of God on a regular basis, which
will increase your faith and cause you to comprehend how much God loves
you. Once you become aware of how big God’s love is, you’ll receive the
strength you need to resist all temptations and sin will be a thing of
the past.
